Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Within two years she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was made the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both an anchor and a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. She served on an advisory panel during the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy issues, such as the arm control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
